The AI Act's split calendar: what Article 50 actually requires on 2 August 2026

As of 23 July 2026 the Digital Omnibus on AI is signed but not yet published in the Official Journal, so the AI Act's original calendar still governs. The transparency duties of Article 50 land on 2 August 2026; only the machine-readable marking of pre-existing generative systems is deferred to 2 December 2026.

ITU opens FG-TIDA: a standards venue for trust and identity of agentic AI

On 9 July 2026 the ITU announced a Focus Group on Trust and Identity for Humans and Agentic AI, reporting to Study Group 17. Its remit is the connective layer under the agent economy — common terminology, reference architectures for identity and trust, and criteria for continuous assessment of AI agents — with first meetings in Paris and Geneva.
